Clarke Brunson graduated from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego in June of 2024. She earned a BS in Marine Biology. In addition to working with MTS as a Field Technician she is a Marine Science Educator at Sea Life Aquarium at Legoland California Resort where she connects with children and adults of all ages teaching them about the wonders of the ocean, the threats facing our marine ecosystems and how we as individuals can strive to alleviate the effects of these challenges. Her passion for marine science began as a young child growing up on a barrier island off the coast of South Carolina and was fostered during her time spent with the School for Field Studies Center for Marine Resource Studies in South Caicos Turks and Caicos. There she was able to conduct research investigating the presence and composition of microplastics in queen conch, an economically and culturally significant fish species. She is excited to contribute to the meaningful work being done by MTS here in San Diego.
