Maya graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2023 with a B.S. in Aquatic Biology. As an undergraduate, she earned her AAUS Research Diver certification, conducted marine invertebrate parasitology research, and volunteered as an exhibit interpreter at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum Sea Center. More recently, she volunteered as a marine mammal rescuer aiding in the recovery and release of California sea lions affected by domoic acid poisoning. Her experience has given her a comprehensive approach to marine science and sparked her passion for ocean conservation. Maya is stoked to be a part of the MTS team and to contribute to the conservation of our marine ecosystems!
