Howard Jones

Howard Jones founded MTS and has been involved in polychaete taxonomy and marine field work since 1972.  Since that time polychaete taxonomy has been a major portion of his daily work on various baseline, outfall, monitoring and dredging impact studies.  He spends most of his time working out of our Oregon office but when needed he fills in Southern California on large field efforts.  He has extensive experience with long-term marine sampling programs in both deep and shallow water environments. He has a vast knowledge in the field. He is a natural problem solver in adverse environments.  Mr. Jones obtained his degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington in 1974.  Since that time Mr. Jones has also been instrumental in planning and carrying out many field and laboratory taxonomic efforts.  He regularly manages a team of taxonomists and benthic sorters for projects across a wide geographic region ranging from the northeast Pacific, Bering and Chukchi Seas and the Alaskan arctic waters, into British Columbia and all the way down the USA coast into southern California and Mexico.  He has studied at the University of Southern California's Allan Hancock Foundation under Dr. Kristian Fauchald.
